Learning Doesn't Stop

Meet Frank Beauchamp.

Frank is a stellar fiddle player from Glasgow, KY whom I met at a jam session in Horse Cave, KY. Having played the fiddle nearly his whole life, Frank uses the instrument in the classroom as a well.

Mr. Cutie Pi

The Alpha Delta Pi sorority hosted its third annual "Mr. Cutie Pi" pagent on campus earlier this week to see who loved ADPi and WKU the most.
Contestants donned swimwear, formal-wear and nerdwear all in the name of charity, raising money for Ronald Mcdonald house.

Holi Festival

Last weekend I covered Holi festival celebrations held on WKU's campus.

The spring festival of Holi, also known as the festival of colors and the festival of love, is a Hindu tradition celebrating the arrival of spring.

The WKU Indian Student Association hosted the event for the first time on campus to a small but playful crowd that dowsed each other in the colored powder and water.

Thanks to some protection normally reserved for rainy weather my camera ended the day the same color it began but my clothes were not so lucky...

Fight Night

It was Greek fight night in Bowling Green last weekend as boxers from WKU's Greek community came together to battle between the ropes for charity. Access to the ring was restricted so I spent some time wandering through the crowd, photographing the onlookers.

School on Her Terms

Barbara Morrow is a non-traditional student from Bowling Green who is back at WKU to finish her nursing degree now that her kids are getting older.
I tagged along with Barbara as she went through a morning of clinical work with nurses at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.

Lonestar Rodeo

The Lonestar Rodeo came to WKU's Ag farm last weekend. I spent some time roaming the outskirts of the arena one night to see life outside the ring.

Jr. Foods

Everyone has their places.

Places where they had a part in wearing the paint off the counter.
If a dive bar had a convenience store this would be it, Jr. Foods on the corner of 13th Ave. and Center St. in Bowling Green.
Cherished by those who frequented it and quickly walked by with an eye over the shoulder for those who didn't.
The chain's owner, Houchens Industries, will be closing the store over the summer and has already taken out the gas pumps in front.
Greeted with a gruff hello and a weary smile by manager Susie Meredith when I walked in, we talked for a bit, exchanged a few bad jokes and she agreed to let me hang out and photograph.
A constant stream of patrons dotting every point on life's timeline passed through the stores double doors.
Each was greeted with a "ding" from the doorbell and a quick remark alluding to an inside joke with Susie.
Roaring laughter, a pack of cigarettes, and another doorbell later they had gone and the cycle began anew.
A manager at the store for ten years, Susie said they will move her and her staff to another store and softly added an, "I hope," before lighting up a cigarette in the doorway.
